We have formed our organization and more importantly started teaching sailing to our local island kids in a consistent seasonal weekly based program. Response has been extremely validating that this is a wonderful opportunity for our local children.
In order to keep the momentum, its important that we start creating an organization membership! As Chairman, I shy away from calling it a Yacht Club or Sailing Association because I do not want any connotation of exclusivity. Hatteras Community Sailing is here for all local youth and families, whether or not they are members!
But in order to raise the capital for equipment, administration, and other worthwhile continued seasonal programs, Hatteras Community Sailing does offer Supporting Membership Types. Year round residents on Hatteras Island can join with a Family Membership for $100. Island visitors, both seasonal or periodic can join via a per person membership of $100 or a family membership of $250.
We are setting up the website at hatterassailing.org to take membership registrations this week and will update the facebook page and website links as soon as this online registration and payment method is launched. In the meantime, anyone who wants to become a member, can mail us a check at the new Organizational address in Avon….
