2023 Fall Sailing: Weekend Sailing (8-12 yrs) Aug/Sep
We hope that your beginner clinic left you wanting to sail throughout the summer. Join us on Saturday Mornings to have fun, practice, and level up your sailing skills. We will sail out of the sailing center into the arena, do drills, practice scrimmages, etc. Weekend sailing is for sailors who have already completed beginner sailing and have mastered Beginner I skills in rigging and basic boat handling.
- Ages 8-12; Optimist Sailing
- Includes registration and boat charter
- 5 sessions of 3hr practice for a total of 15hrs coaching time on the water
- Dates: Aug 5, 12, 19, 26, Sep 2, 16
- Time: 9am-12pm
- Mandatory Orientation Meeting: Thursday Aug 3, 2023 5pm
Pre-requisite: This session of sailing is for sailors who have had some experience sailing Optimist or Sunfish before. If you are not sure if you qualify to sign up, use the interest form and set up an evaluation session with our coaches. You must pass swim test and have mastered boat rigging, launching, and basic boat handling to register for these practice sessions. If you’d like to set up private lessons to get up to speed, please attend a learn to sail camp or arrange for private lessons
Practice Time: We will meet for 5 weekends each Saturday morning leading up to the BYSC Puff Mud Regatta and then the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse Regatta. Our club has a new boat leasing policy and code of conduct which we will review in orientation. We hope that you will join us and participate in these two regattas as part of our Hatteras Community Sailing green team.
Orientation meeting is mandatory for sailor and one parent on Thursday Aug 3, 2023 5pm
