Schedule for Saturday Morning:
6:30 AM Meet at Phillip’s: Rally point and team pep talk.
6:45 AM leave for Manteo: Phillips are driving. We have 2 extra seats in our car if a sailor needs to ride with us.
7:45 AM Arrive in Manteo: Unload trailer. Rig boats, coaches check rigging and fine tuning.
8:00 AM Practice sailing in Shallowbag Bay: Head in by 9:45 am to get boats dollied back onto the hard. Sailors, be checking the wind at the start line. Get a feel for the boundaries of the course. Mind the note in the sailing instructions point 7.3 about the red bouy. Please locate the red upwind mark and remember that is your mark. Located the reaching mark. Practice the course.
10:00 AM Brunch Break: If parents have left sailors in care of the Phillips, please ensure they have $20 spending money for brunch, snack, etc. We plan to eat out somewhere there in downtown Manteo. Your kids can pack a snack or eat out with us.
11:00 AM Skipper’s Meeting
12:00 PM First race: Please scroll to the bottom of this page, open and read the Notice of Race and Sailing Instructions.
Manteo One Design Regatta Details
When: July 31st
Where: Manteo Historic Waterfront
What: Opti Class Regatta & 420 Class Regatta
Fees:
- $30 per sailor includes racing, t-shirt, dinner
- Additional T-Shirts $17
- Additional Dinner $10
Governing rules
3 minute starting sequence with as many races as we can fit in. There will be an awards presentation and cook-out follows racing.
Racing will be governed by the Racing Rules of Sailing, US Sailing Prescriptions, Class Rules, and Sailing Instructions (available at registration).
Entry fee includes one dinner and t-shirt. Additional dinner seats and t-shirts are available. I have asked cost and waiting to hear back. Awards will be presented to the top 3 finishers of each class.
