Short Camps are the perfect opportunity to test the waters! Our Camps are often designed to introduce kids to all differents types of boats and types of sailing. Some of our camps focus on one type of boat that is the perfect size and design for their age and weight yet simple enough for a novice to grasp concepts of how the boat works. We offer 3 Spring Camps open to the public.

Continuing Education on the Sea!
Our special niche in the Outer Banks has proven itself to be that we are the Organization that offers followup and continuing education for kids who take to the water. Sailing is a terrific life skill and something a person will take advantage of for their entire life. It starts with a basic sailing program but can blossom into the High School Sailing Team, Collegiate Sailing, Olympic Sailing, and any mix of Vocations that are related to the Sea. Instilling a Passion for the Sea, Seamanship and Stewardship for the Ocean is an incredibly rewarding blessing to plant seeds at a young age and see them grow into passionate and rewarding occupations and lifestyles touched by the Sea. We leverage all possible chances for kids in our programs to mix in with those in other regions through regattas, championship events, cruising and offshore racing, and grand prix sailing events.
If Sailing Camp Ignites a New Passion ! What’s Next?
This is where we shine ! Our Opti Youth Sailing Team is the next step for kids from 7 to 13. The program runs numerous seasons throughout the year starting with Spring Opti Team Session in April 2025. Sessions run from 6 to 8 weeks with practices once per week minimum, plus many more sailing opportunities as your child grows, aboard our charter boats, helping with other beginner camps and a plethora of Winter Sailing Opportunities in warmer climates that are fabulous. Registration is open for 2025 Spring Session now and there is still a few spots left. We can only coach 8 kids at a time for safety reasons, so we open classes in groups of 8 per coach. Right now there is only one coach.

Membership
There is a Special Membership Rate of $100 per year for YEAR ROUND WORKING RESIDENTS of Hatteras Island and the Upper Outer Banks. It is cheaper for local families because our families on Hatteras Island are not the same as Richmond, DC, Hampton and other big cities…. the majority of Hatteras Island consists of Service Workers, Carpenters, Builders, Home Repair and Maintenance, Rental Agents, Commercial Fishermen, Charter Boat Captains, Restaurant Workers, etc…. and to be honest, for the most part is a very Blue Collar hard working persons place that is costly and kind of hard to earn enough to afford living here…. so they get a discount because the locals are who makes it possible for Summer Guests to come and enjoy life on the Island! This Membership offers big discounts on programs, events, and privileges to participate in a lot of things that are really fun on and around the Sea ! Locals Please Join Now !
Vacation Home Owner Membership – Cape Select Program for your Guests!
This is the best deal on the Island. Based a bit on the size and capacity of your house, because capacity of the Sailng Center is a factor, the pricing per year is from $450 to $850 and can be billed monthly on your CC! With this, you and your rental guests are eligible for a wonderful portfolio of boating and seamanship related benefits such as boat ramp access, dockage, chart briefing, towing and rescue services, instruction discounts, captain discounts, charter discounts and special offers as well as use of the premises for special events and just coming to enjoy life on the Sound at our new up and coming fun back yard on the Sound.
