There will be an initial organizational meeting for the Secondary School age youth this Thursday at 6 pm in Avon hosted by Amy Hakola at 42005 Cedar Circle.
We anticipate that, like the younger groups, the older kids will initially get to do some sailing with Capt. Jay on the Stiletto 27. Because the Optimist One Design is intended for smaller kids, the older group will need to find some boats to sail on. Most likely they will start sailing on Hobie Cats, as there are several around Hatteras Island.
Originally we thought there would only be one age group, but left it open to see what would happen. To our amazement, there are now 3 age groups signed up! Because this older group is a bit late getting started, there is also no reason we could not run the program later into the fall.
