Colington Yacht Club Juniors Spring Break Camp – Opti Class

Colington Yacht Club Juniors Program – Spring Break April 21 – 25, Opti Sailors Clinic.  Ages 8 to 12 welcome to learn all about sailing or improve your sailing skills.  Colington Camp is coached by Certified US SAILING Level 1 Instructors with Safesport and Powerboat Training.  Kids will spend 6 hours per day learning about different basic aspects of sailing and then weather permitting go out on the water to practice their new skills.  Come and be amazed at how far your kids can go !  The start often knowing a thing and at the end of the week, some can actually compete in a scrimmage regatta, learning about boathandling, sailing rules, sportsmanship, capsizing and righting the boat, on up to racing maneuvers and tactics.  This is a feeder camp.  If you child really finds that they love being the master of their own vessel and they want to keep learning, we can point them in the right direction, whether you live in Hatteras, KdH, Virginia Beach, or anywhere.  There is a great nationwide network of sailing organizations that teach sailing.  Clubs have their own boats, so by registering in a training course with Colington, you only need your sunblock and swim shorts !  We provide the life vests, boats, and other sailing equipment for the kids!  Sailing is a wonderful sport that acclamates the kids to find a passion and love for the Sea, by being actively engaged.  It teaches self confidence, assertiveness, resourcefulness and a mess of boating related skills that come into play on power or sailboats.  Get your child started today and sign up for this Seasonal opportunity at your local Yacht Club here in Kill Devil Hills.  Opti Course is limited to 8 kids because of the safety ratio to the instructors.  Get registered now.  It could change your child’s direction in life !
