HATTERAS ISLAND YOUTH SAILING

Invitational travel team is for all the advanced Opti and 420 Sailors who have been invited and plan to compete in Regattas as part of the Hatteras Invitational Sailing team. The Regatta Travel Schedule is published with 5 Total Regattas not including the two that we host on Hatteras. Details can be found on the events page. We will practice 3 days per week for 3-4hrs each practice throughout the summer / fall sailing season. You will be asked to assist the coaches as an assistant coach in intermediate and beginner sailing group coaching sessions, and have opportunities to earn travel sponsorships by helping with boat maintenance and acting as charter crew.

Registration Form
Registration does not include regatta registration as those fees go to the hosting club. Sponsorships are available for sailors who exhibit a strong commitment, desire to improve, and talent for the sport. If you are interested in travel sailing and need sponsorship, please reach out to your head coach to learn how to prepare to gain sponsorships.
NOTE: Your child will not need any special gear other than a pair of water shoes or boots to protect feet from oyster shell cuts. The club supplies boats, lifejackets, etc. If your child chooses to sail in the Fall Regatta, that registration fee is separate to the regular sailing registration
