2023 Summer Weekend Sailing: Collegiate 420 (13-18 yrs)

Summer ’23 Weekend Sailing Collegiate 420 Clinic for 13-18 years old

Collegiate 420 is a team sport. Try it out, get an introduction during clinic weeks, but if you want to keep sailing and find a partner, these sessions are meant to be practice and we ask that you commit to your teammate that you are going to sail together and commit to each other.

• Ages 13-18; Collegiate Sailing
• Includes boat charter for experienced skipper
• 4 sessions of 4hrs for a total of 16hrs coaching time on the water
• June 24, Jul 1, 8, 15, 22
• Mandatory Orientation Meeting on Wed, June 21, 5pm

Pre-requisite for Skippers: Skippers must have experience sailing collegiate 420 and be approved to skipper. As skipper, you will be chartering your boat and the responsible party for the boat’s maintenance. If you do not have a crew then one may be provided to you at coach’s discretion – adult or junior. Please submit the waitlist form if you do not have a crew.

Beginner Crew: If you are not sure who will skipper your boat then please use the interest form / waitlist to be paired with a skipper.  You must have a skipper, pass swim test, and get coach’s approval to attend these group coaching sessions. If you are a beginner or you are only comfortable sailing as crew, you may sign up as long as you have a skipper/partner already.

Practice Times: We will meet on the five weekends leading up to the regatta each Saturday or Sunday afternoon depending on the weather and other sports schedules. Our club has a new boat leasing policy and code of conduct which we will review in orientation.

These five sessions are practice for the Manteo Regatta. Practice and regatta registration are mandatory for the sailors signing up for this summer weekend sailing just because collegiate 420 is a team sport, you must commit to your teammate that you are going to sail together and stand by your word.

Orientation meeting is mandatory for sailor and one parent on Wed, June 21, 5pm
