Spring ’23 Optimist Clinic – 8 to 12 years old
** This is NOT for beginner Optimist Sailors; This is practice session for the Wind ‘n Waves regatta and open for the HCS Development Team. If you are a sailor who has experience you may register but will be asked to pass a skills check with our coaches.

- Includes registration and boat charter
- 4 sessions of 4hrs for a total of 16hrs coaching time on the water

- Mandatory Orientation Meeting: Friday, April 21st 4pm
Pre-requisite: This session of sailing is for sailors who have had some experience sailing Optimist or Sunfish before. If you are not sure if you qualify to sign up, use the interest form and set up an evaluation session with our coaches. You must pass swim test and have coach’s approval to attend these group coaching sessions. If you’d like to set up private lessons to get up to speed, please use the interest form.
Practice Time: We will meet on the four weekends leading up to the regatta (April 22, 29, May 6, 13) each Saturday or Sunday afternoon depending on the weather and other sports schedules. Our club has a new boat leasing policy and code of conduct which we will review in orientation. These four coaching sessions are practice for the 2023 Wind n’ Waves Regatta on May 19, 20, 21. Each sailor admitted to this practice session is expected to participate as part of the Hatteras Team not in the Wind ‘n Waves Regatta Optimist Green class racing.
Orientation meeting is mandatory for sailor and one parent on Friday, April 21st 5pm.
